Your car’s AC not working is most likely caused by a freon leak or a failing compressor. While these might be the easy to spot reasons that your AC isn’t cooling in the vehicle, it could also be something as simple as a dirty cabin filter or a bad compressor belt. Regardless of why or how, it’s super disappointing when cold air isn’t on to combat the hot weather. The most likely reason your AC stopped working is because your vehicle’s air-conditioning is leaking. Your car’s air-conditioner unit needs freon to lower the ambient air temperature which produces needed cold air. Anytime there is a freon leak on your car there is no way to cool the air. Another source for your air-conditioner not producing cold air is because the car is a hybrid. The air-conditioner system is powered by the engine, the AC won’t be getting any power if your car is in EV mode and the engine isn’t running.
If the air-conditioner is turned on and the fan stopped blowing cold air then there might be a defective AC fuse. Fuses protect car components from a possible power surge and even though it might just need to be replaced, however, if the AC fuse keeps popping then it’s possible you have a larger issue at hand. A low level of AC refrigerant or a possible leak might also be the issue, which our highly skilled technicians can look at.
If the AC is leaking, you could easily tell by random damp spots around your car or puddles under your car when it’s parked. When your air-conditioner is pumping cold air inside your vehicle, it has to place all of that moisture it’s used from outside and flows through the evaporator drain pipe. This could also be caused by the AC Refrigerant level being too low which produces an overflow of condensation since the evaporator coils will start to freeze. You need to have a lookout for faulty seals in the air-conditioning compartment or the AC’s air filters if the problem keeps happening.
