Crew Cab vs Extended Cab vs Regular Cab Trucks

What is a crew cab vs extended cab vs regular cab trucks?

Doesn’t it feel like it doesn’t matter where you look, pickup trucks are everywhere? The days where pickups were made only for work are long gone. These days, pickups can be upgraded to be as opulent as the well-known brands in luxury. There is a pickup truck made for you, no matter if you need a workhorse or want to cruise in style. Once you decide if you must have 4-Wheel Drive (or just Rear-Wheel Drive), the next big decision is to decide which cab type is best for you.

What makes a pickup a Regular Cab?

As the name implies, a regular cab truck has one row of seating with very limited legroom and storage space. A regular cab truck used to be the only way to buy pickup trucks. In many regular cabs, the seats almost touch the back side of the cab. This style is the more practical version of a truck and usually comes with manual windows and locks. A regular cab is made for work, not for hauling your family and friends.

How to tell if a pickup is an Extended Cab

As you could probably assume, an Extended Cab (can also be called a Double Cab ) is just a Regular Cab with extra room behind the front seats. When they were first introduced, extended cab trucks were available for purchase as 2-door models and had small jump seats behind the front row. These days they may be called a Double Cab pickup, these trucks now boast second-row doors for easy access to the cargo area. While there are 2 rows of seating, an Extended Cab truck would not be the ideal vehicle for long trips, even though it can haul more people.

Is a Crew Cab pickup right for me?

While not as apparent as the other cab versions, a Crew Cab truck boasts 4 full-size doors and the space to hold, well, your whole ‘crew.’ Crew Cab pickup trucks are made to haul more stuff and-or people. In some circles, these styles of pickup trucks have become the family vehicle. A Crew Cab pickup truck’s bigger size and powerful engines are unmatched in the 4-door sedan segment while still providing the luxuries and legroom that families desire.
